In 1997, the ISHE Scholarship Award Program was established. An Engineering Scholarship Fund was established and has been provided for in the annual budget. ISHE may award one or more scholarships per school year. These scholarships are available to ISHE Members or employees of ISHE full hospital members, or the sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters of ISHE members who are attending college and pursuing a degree in engineering, technology, construction, architecture, construction management, or other field applicable to healthcare facility management.
During each Spring State Meeting thereafter, a motion may be presented on the floor for scholarships of $2,000.00 each to be transferred from the General Fund into the Scholarship Fund for the coming year. Interest accrued by the Scholarship Fund shall remain in the scholarship fund to compound.
ISHE Scholarship Award Program Details Mission:
To contribute to the future of the Engineering profession by providing financial assistance to help defray the costs incurred by a qualified person in the pursuit of a degree in engineering, technology, construction, architecture, construction management or other field applicable to healthcare facility management and to contribute to the membership of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering by making this assistance available to the ISHE Members or employees of ISHE full hospital members, or sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters of active ISHE members in good standing.
Eligibility:
- The candidate must be an ISHE Member or an employee of ISHE full hospital members, or a son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of an ISHE member in good standing. Other applicants of non-members pursuing a future Healthcare Facility Management profession may be considered if recommended by board member. Should no applications be received from qualified candidates by the stated deadline time of any given calendar year, the scholarships may be awarded to an approved Indiana post-secondary educational institution offering an engineering degree program. Said institution shall be selected by vote of the Elected Board of Directors of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering.
- II. The candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree program of an approved post-secondary educational institution in the state of Indiana for engineering, technology, construction, architecture, construction management or other field applicable to healthcare facility management.
- III. The candidate must submit an essay of their interest in pursuing a higher education degree in engineering, technology, construction, architecture, or other field applicable to healthcare facility management. This essay must be delivered or postmarked to the Secretary of the Society on or before April 10th, in the same calendar year as the beginning of the school year for which the scholarship is being awarded. Definitions:
- The ISHE Engineering Scholarship shall be awarded in the amount of $2,000 each.
- II. Scholarships may be awarded to the ISHE Member, or an employee of ISHE full hospital members, or a son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of an ISHE member in good standing.
- III. Alternately, scholarships may be awarded to a successful applicants or a other scholarships given to an approved Indiana post-secondary educational institution offering an engineering degree program. Said institution shall be selected by vote of the Elected Board of Directors of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering.
Selection:
Selection of scholarship recipients shall be made by a majority vote of the elected Board of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering present. The judgment of the board members as to what constitutes an “engineering, technology, construction, architecture, construction management or other field applicable to healthcare facility management” or “of an approved post-secondary educational institution” shall be final. Should a son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of an elected Board Member be among the applicants, that Board Member shall abstain from participating in the voting process.
