VICE PRESIDENT – Vote for one

Melissa McCain
Title: Quality & Compliance Supervisor, Facilities and Plant Operations
Facility/System: Indiana University Health Academic Health Center
Primary Location: Indianapolis, IN
Certifications: CHPEW

After 10 years in commercial real estate development and property management, I entered the healthcare world in 2013. I cut my teeth at IU Health’s AHC – a 6+ million s.f. portfolio comprised of 1,400+ beds in four hospitals (Methodist, University, Riley and Saxony), one ambulatory center and 25 off-site locations. I was hired as a project manager to oversee technicians and vendors working to resolve life safety deficiencies, but when I walked into Methodist seven years ago, I could not have defined “fire stopping” or “ILSM” to you. Since then, I have taken on many other responsibilities as my knowledge and interests have grown.

I have helped lead our Facilities teams through three successful accreditation surveys, developed and led contractor training, participated in the development and revision of policies, learned enough about ventilation to quote specs from FGI/ASHRAE 170 Table 7.1, presented at ASHE Annual and MWHCEC, am in my second year of ASHE’s Leadership Institute, and was recently the very first ASHE member to be featured in their new “Voices of ASHE” program.

I’m passionate about making sure Facilities employees and the contractors we work with do our part to ensure a safe environment of care. Serving on the ISHE Board has allowed me to bring this passion to the planning of programs and conferences meant to educate and inspire others. I hope to help expand the training opportunities offered by ISHE, increase membership by drawing in more diverse facilities and providers, and encourage ISHE members to become more involved in opportunities to advocate for our industry.

TREASURER – Vote for one

J.W. Rossow
Title: Manager, Engineering Services
Facility/System: Elkhart General Hospital, Beacon Health System
Primary Location: Elkhart, IN
Certifications: Professional Engineer

My career in maintenance has spanned multiple industries, manufacturing, retail, municipal, and academic. Four years ago, I made the decision to move into healthcare. It by far has been the most challenging, and fulfilling job I have had to date. I have taken the successes I have learned throughout my career to bring another perspective to the Facilities department. This year I continue this growth by taking the CHFM exam.

I enjoy learning new topics and ISHE has provided many educational opportunities. I joined the ISHE board last year and found a place for me to learn and share ideas with others within the healthcare industry and state. I would have never imagined how much growth this position would allow. I enjoy utilizing my MBA skills, and would like to continue to serve on the ISHE board as the Treasurer.

SECRETARY – Vote for one

Scott Burcroff
Title: Director Facilities Technical Operations
Facility/System: Parkview Health
Primary Location: Fort Wayne
Certifications: CHFM, CHEP

I am respectfully submitting myself for consideration for the position of secretary.  I have served as the ISHE secretary for the past 3 terms where I have been able to assist in the growth of the ISHE chapter.  Additionally, I have assisted ISHE in the continued success by being recognized by ASHE through the affiliated chapter recognition program.  ISHE continues to be a leader in ASHE affiliated chapters and I would like to provide my wealth of experience to continue these accomplishments.

DIRECTORS – Vote for two

Jeff Cook
Title: Director, Engineering & Environmental Services
Facility/System: Reid Health
Location: Richmond, IN
Certifications: CHFM (expired), Licensed Electrician, Certified Master Electrician, Reserve Police Officer for the City of Richmond, City of Richmond Board of Zoning Appeals Member (past chairperson)

I have been at Reid Health more than 27 years and have held several positions in the organization. I became the Director of Engineering in 2008 and Director of Environmental Services in 2017 and still oversee both departments.

During my tenure, I have been an integral partner in the organization’s growth from a single building on one campus to a regional healthcare system of 66 buildings in 8 counties and 2 states.

I interact with all levels of management and front line staff in multiple departments on a daily basis. This allows a great deal of diversity and experiences that allow personal and professional growth. As we have all experienced with COVID, it takes a vast amount of teamwork to make sure staff and patients are safe when they are entrusting us with their care inside our buildings. Interactions with many different teams during the pandemic have allowed me and my teams to overcome obstacles each day by working together.

Ben Stauffer
Title: Regional Director of Operations
Facility/System: West Central Region, Indiana University Health
Primary Location: Lafayette, IN
Certifications: PE, MBA, CHFM, CHC

I spent 20 years in Healthcare Construction before joining IU Health in 2012 as a Senior Project Manager in Design & Construction.  I pride myself on completing projects on time, within budget and with collaboration with Facilities and other teams who would “live” in my projects.  In 2016, I transitioned into Facilities & Plant Operations for IU Health Arnett.  Shortly thereafter, I transitioned to a Regional Director Role, overseeing Facilities, Clinical Engineering and Security for White Memorial, Frankfort and Arnett Hospitals as well as clinics in Tippecanoe, White and Clinton Counties, all totaling just over 1 million s.f.

With my extensive background in construction and my focus on full project lifecycles, I have a sound understanding of the physical environment. I’ve brought a unique focus on engineering and people to my role and developed a deeper understanding of the needs of the teams inside and outside of Facilities and C.E., and the long term needs of the organization.

I would like to give back to the colleagues and friends I’ve met through ISHE by bringing my extensive background as well as my social nature to the organization.

Kevin Webb
Title:
Regional Director, Emergency Management, Safety & Environment of Care
Facility/System: Medxcel Facility Management /Ascension St. Vincent Health System
Primary Location: Indianapolis, IN
Certifications: CHSP, CHFM, CHCM, CHM

I have worked in healthcare for more than 25 years and have extensive experience in Facilities Management across the healthcare industry. I also have a variety of training and leadership experience in Safety and Emergency Management, where I have used my expertise to develop and lead education programs for topics such as Active Shooter that include role-specific training, response to drills and response to actual events.

In my current role, I am responsible for the Safety and EM programs at more than 20 hospitals and 150 care centers.

In addition to serving as a consultant in our industry for many years and being published in leading industry journals, I am known for my Emergency Management advocacy and speaking/teaching in Indiana and throughout the Midwest.

I am able to bring a cross-discipline perspective and experience with regulatory compliance, consulting and conferences to ISHE, which may assist in bringing normalcy to the regulatory spectrum of Healthcare.
