Mission:

To contribute to the future of the Engineering profession by providing financial assistance to help defray the costs incurred by a qualified young person in the pursuit of an Engineering Degree and to contribute to the membership of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering by making this assistance available to the sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters of active ISHE members in good standing.

Eligibility:

I. The candidate must be a son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of an ISHE member in good standing. Should no applications be received from qualified candidates by the stated deadline time of any given calendar year, the scholarships may be awarded to an approved Indiana post-secondary educational institution offering an engineering degree program. Said institution shall be selected by vote of the Elected Board of Directors of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering.

II. The candidate must be enrolled as a full time student in a technical, engineering-type degree program of an approved post-secondary educational institution in the state of Indiana.

III. The candidate must submit a ten to fifteen minute narration of their interest in pursuing a higher education in the engineering field. This narration must be recorded on a good quality audio cassette tape and be delivered or postmarked to the Secretary of the Society on or before April 1st, in the same calendar year as the beginning of the school year for which the scholarship is being awarded.

Definitions:

I. The ISHE Engineering Scholarship shall be awarded in the amount of $2,000.00 each.

II. One scholarship may be awarded to the son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of an ISHE member in good standing from the Northern District, the other may be awarded to the son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of an ISHE member in good standing from the Southern District.

III. If valid application(s) are received from only one district, both scholarships may be awarded, separately, to two successful candidates within that district. Alternately, one scholarship may be awarded to a successful applicant with the other scholarship given to an approved Indiana post secondary educational institution offering an engineering degree program. Said institution shall be selected by vote of the Elected Board of Directors of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering.

Selection:

Selection of scholarship recipients shall be made by a majority vote of the elected Board of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering present. The judgment of the board members as to what constitutes an "engineering type degree program" or "of an approved post-secondary educational institution" shall be final. Should a son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of an elected Board Member be among the applicants, that Board Member shall abstain from participating in the voting process.
