A special
administration of the Certified Healthcare Facility Manager
(CHFM) Examination is being offered by the AHA Certification
Center at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, during the
Midwest Healthcare Conference. Interested individuals must
apply by September 21, 2005. Walk-ins are not allowed to
test. Begin by downloading the CHFM Candidate Handbook
and Application from www.aha.org/certification (Click
on the CHFM logo) or by calling AMP to order a copy. The
Handbook includes eligibility requirements, a complete
content outline for the Examination, sample test items,
an application and instructions for completing the application.

Examination. Developed by the AHA Certification Center,
the 100-item practice test mirrors the Examination in content,

of the course, individuals will be able
to:
- Define terrorism and WMD, list the indicators
of potential terrorist acts,
and list potential terrorist targets;
- Describe selected chemical agents and Toxic Industrial
Chemical (TIC)
terms, definitions, characteristics, and recognize the physiological signs and
symptoms of exposure;
- Describe biological agents, the signs and
symptoms of exposure, and
any physical characteristics of biological agents;
- Describe the characteristics
of radiation and radiological
materials; identify the physiological
signs and symptoms of exposure; identify radiation
exposure devices
and radiological dispersal
devices, and distinguish between a nuclear weapon detonation and a conventional
explosion;
and
- Identify the characteristics
of explosives
and the effects of
a detonated explosive device.

Preparedness (ODP) of the Department
of Homeland Security (DHS), Veterans
Health Administration and Emergency

Engineering Services (www.applied-e-s.com)
has several career engineering positions currently open.
A brief description of each position is shown below.
Mechanical
Engineer – Degreed engineer with minimum
5 years experience. Duties will include engineering
and design for mechanical systems, including chilled
water, steam, hot water, compressed air, and HVAC.
Electrical
Engineer – Degreed engineer with minimum
5 years experience. Duties will include engineering
and design for high and medium voltage campus distribution
systems plus electrical system design in support of
the mechanical systems identified above.
CADD
Technician – Experienced CADD technician
with minimum 3 years experience. Duties include CADD
drafting of mechanical and electrical systems.
