Environmental Engineer 3

The Indiana State Department of Health is seeking an Environmental Engineer 3 to work in its Health Care Engineering program. While this position could be called upon to review plans and specifications for commercial on site sewage disposal systems, mobile home parks, campgrounds, schools, day care centers, or long term care facilities, its primary responsibility will be review of plans and specifications for hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. Minimum qualifications for the position include graduation from and accredited four year college with a major in engineering, and at least two years of full time paid professional experience in engineering. An advanced degree in engineering will reduce the required years of full time paid professional experience by one year. Current certification as an Indiana Engineer-In-Training or Indiana Registered Professional Engineer is desirable, but not required. Additionally, the candidate should be skilled in written communication; and be competent with standard word-processing and database computer programs. The position will pay from $40,898 to $79,274, depending on the applicant’s qualifications. POSITION SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Project Engineer is to act in a project management/engineering role for concurrent projects.  The key components of the position are developing project proposals, developing project plans and project execution.  The Project Engineer will also be responsible for supervision of engineering production team, 70 – 80% billable.  Position would be located in either the Denver or Charlotte office; relocation is required.         
 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Open new jobs, prepare project fee proposal and acquire approval for same from Project Manager
    • Develop and monitor project plan including scheduling and maintaining phases, tasks and milestones
    • Allocate resources, develop and adjust budget by hours/dollars
    • Direct project teams, including staff engineers and CAD operators, engaged in the design, development, and execution of projects in compliance with all established standards for Caveo Project Management
    • Conduct production staff annual performance reviews for all direct reports
    • Responsible for engineering and management of project deliverables and submittals
    • Act as primary point of contact for client management throughout duration of project which includes managing client relations such as identifying and satisfying needs, resolving issues, promoting business image and building client loyalty
    • Provide Caveo presence at all client mandated project meetings as well as internal Project Kick-Off and other in-house project team meetings as assigned
    • Completion of all established project tasks and goals as detailed in the client contract and internal Project Plan
    • Keep the Client Project Manager informed on a perpetual basis of project process and any issues which may arise during the life of the project
QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
    • 7+ years experience in the design of MEP systems for buildings
    • Experience in the design of mechanical or electrical systems for healthcare and/or similar facilities
    • Comprehensive experience in project management and ability to oversee concurrent projects (developing project goals, schedules, budgets, multiple disciplinary teams)
    • Experience in a supervisory role overseeing performance and quality standards of engineering teams
    • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado or North Carolina (or desire to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire)
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD and proficiency with MS Office programs
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
